The CrossFit Open is fast approaching!
For those of you have participated in year’s past, we are making a few changes this year. For others, this may be your first Open! This will be a fun 5 weeks of competition and gym camaraderie.
We will be putting together 4 teams this year. Same as last year, the team Captains will be myself, Rob, Miguel and Joshua. You will be placed on a team, and the scores and participation of your team will accumulate points throughout the 5 weeks.
If you would like to sign up for the worldwide Open, go to games.crossfit.com and you can sign up under the CrossFit Redondo team. However, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP ON THE CF GAMES WEBSITE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GYM’s IN-HOUSE COMPETITION.
Another big change we are implementing this year: for the first time in CFR history, the main Open event will be on Friday nights! In year’s past we have highlighted Saturday mornings as our main community-driven Open event. However, the workout of day on Friday will be the Open workout for all classes. We will have heat sign ups for the afternoon/evening classes. The 6am and noon classes will not have heat sign ups but will also feature the Open workout.
On Saturday, we will run the 9am Oly class as usual. At 10am, class members may do the Open workout or, if already completed, there will be a recovery-focused workout as well.
On Sunday, members may come in at 11am and do the workout. However, we ask that you finish the workout by noon. Also, if you can coordinate with a gym buddy to come in and judge (or judge each other), that is ideal for the Sunday workouts.
