Since 2013, I have made and drank Bulletproof coffee nearly every day. That is more than 5 years of drinking buttery coffee. For a little while, I took Sundays off from drinking it to give my body a break from the caffeine. However, since having Lily, I have found I don't take any days off and I have been drinking more coffee than ever.

I am currently on day 4 of no caffeine. My symptoms up to this point have included: headaches, fatigue, mood swings, depression (not in the clinical sense but mild lethargy and apathy), low energy and food cravings. 

What this withholding of coffee and caffeine has shown me is that I really needed to do this. That is, when when we become too dependent on something, it may be time to take a break from it. The fact that I had such a dramatic reaction is evidence my body had become too dependent on caffeine.

I write this to encourage anyone who is doing something habitually to take a step back and ask "could I stop?". I plan to continue to drink coffee in a week or two. But this time I will do so in moderation.
