On the eve of the 2012 CrossFit Games season, CrossFit Redondo is currently being represented by 18 individuals. For a box that has only existed for 7 months, this is truly amazing. Many boxes in the area who have been open for multiple years are not getting the same representation we are. I am so proud of not only the competitors, but all our members who work hard every day and make our community special. I feel lucky to be a part of this with all of you.
One year ago, Rich, Elliott, Larry, Austin and myself sat in the pit nervously awaiting the first WOD of the Open. We had no idea what to expect and there was a sense of fear among us. As it turned out, we all survived, we all got better from it, and we all enjoyed the experience. For a majority of you, this is your first CrossFit competition. I know many of you are both anxious and nervous. My advice is this: use your fear of the unknown as a positive motivator. These 5 weeks are honestly work 4 months of normal training at the gym. I promise you, this will be a positive step forward in your fitness. You will get better from this experience, largely due to the fact that competition brings out something extra in people.
I am so excited for the gym as a whole to get to experience this event. Work hard, support each other, and let's make this first Open for the box a memorable one!
