Today was the first day to register for the 2012 CrossFit Games Open. Here is the link to register:

I encourage EVERYONE who has $20 to spare and has been pretty consistent with showing up for the workouts to sign up. There were countless stories in the CrossFit world of people getting ridiculous PR's, stringing together double unders, and doing other great feats because the competition gave them and extra edge.

If you're feeling hesitant I'll lay out what they expected of everyone last year:


-had to 30 double unders in a set (not consecutive)

-had to do release pushups, 24"box jumps, and #155 deadlifts in a workout

-had to do a #165 clean and jerk

-OH squat #120 multiple times

-toes to bar, #20 wall balls, #145 power clean multiple times

-chest to bar pullups, #100 thrusters multiple times


-had to do 30 double unders in a set 

-had to do release pushups, 20" box jumps, deadlift #100 in a workout

-had to clean and jerk #110

-OH Squat #90 multiple times

-toes to bar, #14 med ball 9', power clean #100 multiple times

-chest to bar pullups, #65 thruster multiple times

Above was what was expected of the athletes last year. If you can do most of those movements, or if you are very close to doing most of those, I would sign up. I promise you, the competition will push you in a different way than the normal gym workouts will. Plus, it can be a good benchmark for future Opens, like playing your first golf game, keeping score, and being able to look back and see how far you have come. Every Saturday, whether you sign up or not, we will do the Open workout of the week (5 weeks) in a really fun, but competitive atmosphere. We will judge each other, root each other on, and then have a beer afterward.
